Mr. William John Moseley, age 82, of Toccoa, passed away Sunday, December 18, 2022 at his home.

Born March 21, 1940 in Rocky Face, GA, he lived in Forsyth, GA as a child until his family moved to Eastanollee, GA.

Mr. Moseley was the son of Mr. William Ralph Moseley (Deceased) and Mrs. Helen Victoria Looney Moseley (Deceased). His surviving sister is Angeline Moseley Wortham and his brother was James Verlyn Moseley (Deceased).

Mr. Moseley graduated from Stephens County High School in 1958, and then attended Furman University on a Football scholarship. He transferred to the University of Georgia in 1960 where he graduated in 1962 from the Terry Business School. He was a member of the Sigma Chi Fraternity and was an avid Bulldog fan. He then served his country for two years in the Army Medical Services Core in Texas followed by serving one year in Vietnam as a supply chain officer.

His surviving family includes his loving wife of 60 years, Mrs. Myra Dale Farmer Moseley, as well as two daughters, Victoria Lee Moseley Halferty and Angeline Dawn Moseley Addington and a son-in-law, Brian F. Halferty. He has five grandchildren, Margaret Lee Halferty, Abigail Victoria Halferty Morte (Drake), William Joseph Halferty, John William Addington (Mary), and Jacob Michael Addington. He is also survived by his nieces, Helen Wortham and Sarah Gardner and nephews, Thomas Wortham and Ralph Moseley. He had three great nieces and great nephews.

Mr. Moseley was an active member of his community, especially in his membership with the First Baptist Church of Toccoa. He served as Deacon (Chairman) and was a beloved Sunday School Teacher to the youth, college students, young adults, and adults. He will be remembered throughout the community for his amazing kindness and love for the church. Mr. Moseley helped with many mission trips with the First Baptist Church to Nicaragua and Alaska. He was trained by and served with the Georgia Baptist Disaster Team. He was previously a member of the Toccoa Stephens Jaycees, Toccoa Kiwanis Club, and Lake Yonah Association. He was a lifetime member of the Currahee Military Museum and the University of Georgia Bulldog Club.

Mr. Moseley's occupation began in management at Lee's Carpet in Dillard, GA and Hillsville, VA. He moved to Toccoa in 1970 and was employed with Coat's and Clark for several years until he joined Southeast Precast. Later, Bill Shaw, John, and Bobby Byergeon established Shaw Concrete at Eastanollee, GA. They later sold the company to DeKalb Concrete and worked with OldCastle Concrete.

John's hobbies were gardening, making sweet potato biscuits, wood working, fishing, and enjoying the family cabin at the Lake.

John will be missed by many relatives and friends.

The family will receive friends at the mortuary from 9 am until 10:45 am Wednesday, December 21, 2022.

Memorial services will be held at eleven o'clock Wednesday, December 21, 2022 from the Chapel of Whitlock Mortuary with the Rev. David Ritcey and the Rev. Brett Sanders officiating.

Inurnment will follow at Stephens Memorial Gardens with the United States Army providing Military Honors.
