Mrs. Valerie Peyton Higginbotham, age 85, of Toccoa, passed away Friday September 18, 2026 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville, GA.

Born February 17, 1941, in Banks County, GA she was the daughter of the late Inez Peyton.

Valerie was a member of Liberty Baptist Church. She was a graduate of North Georgia Tech and worked as a nurse for the Surgical Specialist Office of Dr. Robert W. Slate, Dr. Wade Knowlton, and Dr. Robert Pauley. Valerie later retired as a plant nurse at Patterson Pump.

Family members include her son Keith Higginbotham; grandchildren, Caleb Higginbotham (Victoria), Madi Loudermilk (Steven), and Skyeler Higginbotham; great-grandchildren, River Higginbotham, Willow Higginbotham, Tallulah Higginbotham, Stevie James Loudermilk, and Scottie Ione Loudermilk; brother-in-law, Milton Higginbotham; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her mother; her husband, William Terrell “Ted” Higginbotham; her son, James Kevin Higginbotham; her sisters, Carol Neal, Virginia Brown, and Kathleen Caudell.

A memorial service will be held at 11am Saturday September 26, 2026, at Liberty Baptist Church with the Rev. Stacy Penland officiating.  

The family will receive friends at the conclusion of Valerie's service.
