Sheila Lynne Maney (Stowe) passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 19th, 2024 after a long and hard-fought battle with cancer. Sheila was born to Theron and Alma Stowe in Toccoa, Georgia. Her childhood was filled with cousins galore, mudpie making in the pasture, and general mischief in Eastanollee. As she grew into the beautiful woman we all knew and loved, her adventurous and fun spirit had her making friends all over North Georgia before she settled in Gainesville and married Steve Watson. They had one daughter, who she loved more than anything, Wendy. Life brought her back to Stephens County, and she married Tim Maney, who dutifully cared for her. She and Tim spent their life in Theron and Alma's home, which they built it in 1969 overlooking the pasture that Theron so lovingly tended all those years ago.

She enjoyed many weekend trips with Wendy, including seeing Tina Turner the musical, Elton John and Garth Brooks concerts, lunches at the Swan House, and exploring every pocket of Atlanta and North Georgia. There was rarely a trip Sheila wouldn't take, and she always made sure to pack a bag of fun.

Sheila's life was filled with glamour and excitement. She was the glitter in everyone's life. Always bending your ear to tell a story like any good Southern woman. She was known for her fanciful way of carrying on a conversation. You could never be bored in her presence. Her entertainment value was off the charts. If she met you once, she knew you for life and carried whatever stories she was told with her.

She was blessed immensely in her later years with some of the best physicians and nurses. The care given to her by Dr. Christina Saurel and her oncology team will be long remembered by her family.

Life as we know it will never be the same without her bright and shining light (more like disco ball), but we will all continue to spread a little bit of Sheila sparkle wherever we can.

She is survived by her daughter Wendy Fountain (Colt) of Gainesville, husband Tim Maney, stepson Matthew Maney (Samantha), step grandchildren Ansley and Maddie, Sister Susan Beitzel (Sid), nephews Drew and Cole Beitzel and niece Annaston Holbrooks.

The family will receive friends at the mortuary from 1pm until the service hour on Sunday, November 24, 2024.

Memorial services will be held from the Chapel of Whitlock Mortuary at three o'clock Sunday, November 24, 2024 with Pastor Hal Stinespring and Pastor Stacy Penland officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Northeast Georgia Medical Center, 2150 Limestone Parkway, Gainesville, GA  30501.
