Rev. Samuel David Long, age 80, of Toccoa, passed away Friday, July 12, 2024 at his home.

Born June 18, 1944 in Westminster, SC, he was the son of the late Paul Pershing and Bertha Jane Holbrooks Long.

He was a member of Refuge Baptist Church and was a retired Truck Driver for D & D Transportation.  Sam was a United States Army Veteran.

Family members include his wife, Lois Mullinax Long; son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Lisa Long of Toccoa; daughters, Rhonda Crump of Toccoa and Renitia Rohletter of Walhalla, SC; sisters and brother-in-law, Joyce Blackwell and Thomas and Linda M. Jones all of Westminster, SC; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Rachel Lillian Long; his son, Randall Harold Long; his brother, Mitchell McKinley Long, his sister, Ruth Elaine Knight; and a nephew, Darren Knight.

The family will receive friends at the mortuary from 6pm – 8pm Monday, July 15, 2024.  The family will also receive friends Tuesday, July 16, 2024 at Unity Baptist Church from 1pm until the service.

Funeral services will be held at two o'clock Tuesday, July 16, 2024 at Unity Baptist Church (774 Unity Church Road, Westminster, SC 29693) with the Rev. West King and the Rev. Thomas Blackwell officiating.

Burial will follow at Unity Baptist Church Cemetery, Westminster, SC.

The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers; Chris Mitchell, Jeff Tollison, Wayne Heath, Jake Rohletter, Justin Wilson, and Austin Tollison.  Erich Long and Alex Campbell will serve as honorary pallbearer.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the family to help with expenses.
