Mr. Samuel “Sam” Kay Blakely, age 69, of Toccoa, passed away at his home Saturday, August 15, 2026.
Born April 26, 1957 in Oconee County, SC, he was the son of the late Thomas Ray and Susan White Blakely.
Sam was of the Baptist Faith and was a retired Maintenance Technician with Tenneco of Hartwell. He had worked with Southeastern Electrical Contractors as an Electrician and also as a Maintenance Technician with Milliken Sibley Plant in Lavonia.
Family members include his wife, Christy Scott Blakely; daughter and son-in-law, Amanda Blakely Warren and Uriah; sons and daughters-in-law, Samuel Chad Blakely and Kelsey and Dylan Neal and Kaitlyn; grandchildren, Paysen Blakely, Beau Blakely, Scout Blakely, Ripp Blakely, and Nolan Warren; sister, Susan Parker; brother and sister-in-law, Mike Blakely and Pam; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Kelly Akin and Brian, and Amanda Rudeseal and Larry; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Hank and Teresa Scott; and numerous nieces and nephews. Sam loved spending time with his nieces and nephews, fishing, hunting, and spoiling them every chance he got.
Sam was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Tommy Blakely; a sister and brother-in-law, Wanda Floyd and Maurice; a brother-in-law, Carey Parker.
The family will receive friends at the mortuary from 6pm – 8pm Friday, August 21, 2026.
No formal services will be held. Sam’s wishes were to be cremated. The family with be at their respective homes.
