Mr. Richard Taylor "Ted" Murray, age 76, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 11, 2025, in his home surrounded by his family.  His final days were filled with love and laughter as family members and dear friends stopped in to say farewell.

Ted was born on October 30, 1948, in Baltimore, Maryland, to the late William and Carolyn "Carrie" Murray.  After high school, Ted enlisted in the United States Army and served in Vietnam as a member of the 25th Infantry Division.

Following his honorable discharge from the Army, Ted moved to Georgia to begin a career in the HVAC field.  He founded Mountain Air in 1979 and served as the owner and operator until his son, Adam, took over in 2007.  As a local business owner, Ted enjoyed supporting his community, especially by sponsoring Toccoa Little League baseball and softball teams.

In addition to his parents, Ted was preceded in death by his son, Adam Murray; a sister, Patsy Bradshaw; and two brothers, James "Jimmy" Murray and William "Billy" Murray.

Family members include his wife of forty-seven years, Kerry Elaine Crawford; daughter Megan Murray Wilhoit (Chad); grandchildren Patrick Murray, Jack Wilhoit, and Savannah Wilhoit; sister Linda Kuykendall; sisters-in-law Kathy Fuller (Robert) and Kim Crawford; and several nieces and nephews.

The Crawford-Murray-Wilhoit family will receive visitors at the mortuary on Tuesday, January 21, 2025 from 4:00 - 8:00 pm.  No service is planned.

To honor Ted's special relationship with his granddaughter, Savannah, and the joy he found watching her and her friends compete in the Spring Games, memorial donations may be made to the Stephens County Special Olympics (c/o Brandy Stacy, 191 Big A School Road, Toccoa, Georgia, 30577).
