Mr. Richard Jerome Hack, age 71, of Martin, GA, passed away Tuesday, January 3, 2023 at his home.
He was born August 5, 1951 in Kentucky to Earl Joseph Hack and Greta Dawn Hays.
Rick was a retired Federal Firefighter serving at NAS Oceana, Virginia Beach, VA; NAS Sigonella, Sicily, Italy; NAS Rota, Spain; and NAS Souda Bay, Crete, Greece where he retired as Fire Chief. Rick was a United States Marine Corps Veteran serving in Vietnam. He retired from the United States Navy Reserves. He was an active member of the V. F. W. Post 4346 in Toccoa. He served as past Post Commander and Past District 2 Commander as well as various positions within the Dept. of Georgia. He was a member and Past Commandant of Marine Corps League Currahee Mountain Detachment 1303. He loved Bluegrass music and was a local musician at Tallulah Falls Opry. He was an avid fisherman, enjoyed golf, and was an active member of the Georgia Mountain Shooting Association. Rick was also known as Papa and spent hours with his grandchildren. He was a very active member of Poplar Springs Baptist Church.
Family members include his wife, Lyn (Linda) McAllister Hack; daughter, Elizabeth Anne Harrison; grandchildren, Troy Knight, Tyler Lipford, and Savannah Lipford. He was preceded in death by his parents and his step-father, Robert E. Thompson, who he was close to.
The family will receive friends at Poplar Springs Baptist Church from 1pm until the service on Friday, January 6, 2023.
Memorial services will be held at two o'clock Friday, January 6, 2023 at Poplar Springs Baptist Church with the Rev. Bruce McGee officiating.
Inurnment will follow at Stephens Memorial Gardens with Military Honors provided by
V. F. W. Post 4346.
