Mr. Richard Talmadge Ballew, age 92, of Eastanollee passed away Wednesday, October 9, 2024, at Bountiful Hills Personal Care Home in Commerce, GA.

Born September 3, 1932 in Blue Ridge, GA, he was the son of the late David Rick and Elva Woodward Ballew.

Mr. Ballew graduated from North Georgia Technical School in Electrical Repair.  He was a member of Tom's Creek Baptist Church where he was a former deacon, Brotherhood Director and Sunday School teacher.  Mr. Ballew was a United States Army Veteran, serving with the Military Railway Police in Nurenburg, Germany, from 1948 – 1949.  He served in the United States Air Force Air Police from 1951 – 1953.  Mr. Ballew was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign War.  He was also a Master Mason Member of Grove Lodge 652, and was a Knight Templar.

Family members include his daughters, Rita Cantrell (Mark) of Toccoa, and Jo King (Mike) of Dacula, GA; son, Carl Ballew; grandchildren, Chad Isbell, Nicole Hoge, Kim McCollum and Bridgett Jackson; 8 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Jo Dilbeck Ballew; grandson, Kevin "Guy" Ballew; and two brothers and a sister.

Graveside services will be held at eleven o'clock Monday, October 14, 2024 at Stephens Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Brandon Crunkleton officiating.  Military honors will be provided by the VFW Post 4346.
