Mrs. Rebecca “Alice” Turpen Hopkins, age 74, of Eastanollee, passed away Sunday, September 13, 2026 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville, GA.
Born May 29, 1952 in Habersham County, GA, she was the daughter of the late James and Ruth Ivester Turpen. She was raised by the late Edith and Marvin London.
Mrs. Hopkins worked for years at Stovall Building Supplies, and was the owner of Frames and Things. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother, and she loved to be crafty and paint.
Family members include her husband, Ray Hopkins, of Eastanollee; daughters, Laura Hopkins Rickman of Toccoa and Marie Hopkins Smith (Joe) of Gainesville, GA; grandsons, Sid Hopkins and Mason Rickman; grand-pup, Gus Smith; sister, Mary Lou Ivester; two angel grandchildren; and numerous extended family and friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her grandson, Dustin Smith; sister, Margaret Walker; and brother, William Turpen.
The family will receive friends at the mortuary from 11am until the service hour on Wednesday, September 16, 2026.
Funeral services will be held at one o’clock Wednesday, September 16, 2026 from the Chapel of Whitlock Mortuary with the Rev. Bob Lawson officiating.
Burial will follow at Stephens Memorial Gardens.
The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers: Sid Hopkins, Mason Rickman, Brian Echols, Damon Cantrell, Jeremy Bennett and Don Heaton. Dustin Smith will serve as honorary pallbearer.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Leukemia Foundation at American Cancer Society. The family also suggests that blood and platelet donations be made to the Life South Blood Bank or to the Red Cross Blood Bank.
