Mr. Phillip Eugene "Phil" Cheek, age 76, of Toccoa, passed away Monday, April 17, 2023 at Hospice of Northeast Georgia Medical Center.

Born September 24, 1946 in Toccoa, he was the son of the late Baxter Eugene "Gene" and Mildred McClain Cheek.

He was of the Methodist Faith and was a United States Marine Veteran. Phil was a Purple Heart Recipient and was proud to serve his Country. He worked at Coats and Clark for a number of years and retired from the Stephens County School System.

Family members include his nephew and his wife, Jeff and Emily Hornick; great niece and great nephews, Emma Hornick, Grant Hornick, Nicholas Hornick, and Owen Hornick; sister and brother-in-law, Elaine and Dennis Hornick. He was preceded in death by a nephew, Brian Hornick.

Graveside services will be held at 1:30 pm Thursday, April 20, 2023 at Stephens Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Dennis Wilkes officiating.

Burial will follow with Military Honors provided by the United States Marines.

Owen Hornick, Ronnie Crunkleton, Stanley McClain, and Dwight Mack will serve as pallbearers.
