Peggy Ann Hart Thompson, age 67, of Toccoa, passed away Saturday, August 10, 2024 at Stephens County Hospital following an extended illness.

Born February 5, 1957 in Toccoa, she was the daughter of the late James and Catherine Wright Hart.  Peggy was a life-long resident of Toccoa.

She was of the Christian Faith and was employed with Aeroquip/Eaton for many years.  Peggy loved to cook and bake.  She could make just about anything you asked her to.  She loved to decorate for any and all occasions.  She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her granddaughters and great-nephew.  Peggy was a very kind and generous person.  She was an extraordinary mother, wife, daughter, aunt and friend.  She was always there for her family, lending a helping hand, even in the midst of her own life challenges.  Peggy was the one you go to when you needed life advice or when you needed a listening ear.  She knew how to cheer people up and always had a way of making you look at things in a better way.  No matter the circumstances, she remained steady in her faith and always kept her head held high.  She truly was strong willed and an inspiration to many people in her life.  Her legacy will live on within us and we will carry the memories we shared with her with us for a lifetime.

Family members include her brother, Jimmy Hart of Toccoa; son, Thomas Thompson of Toccoa; daughter and son-in-law, Kendra and Doug Pruitt of Suches, GA; grandchildren, Madison Pruitt and Ava Pruitt; niece, Shae and Chasten Parker of Toccoa; great-nephew, Haiden Parker; niece, Jamie and Matthew Mize of Anchorage, AK; nephew, Joseph Hart of Hartwell; and her cousin, June Bumgardner of Toccoa.  She was preceded in death by her brother, Randy Hart; and by her sister, Brenda Hart.

The family will receive friends at the mortuary from 5pm – 7pm Tuesday, August 13, 2024.

Memorial services will be held at two o'clock Wednesday, August 14, 2024 from the Chapel of Whitlock Mortuary with the Rev. Jerrell Beatty officiating.
