Mrs. Peggie Jo Smith Thomas, age 84, of Toccoa, passed away Saturday, July 25, 2020 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center.

Born February 4, 1936 in Canon, GA, she was the daughter of the late Dennis S. and Maxine McCall Smith.

She was a member of Liberty Hill Baptist Church and was retired from Belk.

Family members include her husband, Max Thomas; son and daughter-in-law, Barry and Joyce Thomas of Bethlehem, GA; grandson, Bryce Thomas of Bethlehem, GA; brothers and sisters-in-law, Jerry and Patricia Smith and George and Pat Smith all of Toccoa; sister and brother-in-law, Pat Mauldin Kiger and Ed of Aiken, SC; sister-in-law, Jennifer Smith of VA; and several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her brother, Larry Smith.

Funeral services will be held at ten o'clock Wednesday, July 29, 2020 from the Chapel of Whitlock Mortuary with the Rev. Cody Kelley and the Rev. Roger Whiten officiating.

Graveside services and burial will follow at Stephens Memorial Gardens.  Those that may not wish to attend the service in the Chapel are invited to join the family at the graveside service at eleven o'clock Wednesday.

The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers; Bryce Thomas, Dean Burgess, Stan Smith, Harold Thomas, Gary McCall, and Stan London.

The family will receive friends at the mortuary from 9 am until the service on Wednesday.

Flowers are optional.  Those desiring may make memorial donations to Liberty Hill Baptist Church.

Due to the conditions concerning the health and well-being of our community, social distancing will be observed.
