Obituary

Mrs. Michele Kathleen Lucie Gleason, age 60, of Toccoa, passed away Monday, June 15, 2026 at Emory Johns Creek Hospital.

Born February 5, 1966 in Chicago, IL, she was the daughter of George Matthews Lucie and the late Georgianne Feibel Lucie.

Family members include her father, George Matthews Lucie; her husband, Charles "Chuck" Gleason; daughter, Kathryn Gleason; and her brother, Mark Lucie.

From her husband Chuck:

I don't know why you picked me, but I felt like the luckiest man alive from the moment we met 36 years ago. Beauty, elegance, grace, compassion, fierceness, extremely smart, confident, talented, quick witted, athletic, amazing mother, master chef, loving wife and absolute best friend that always had my back. God knew what he was doing when he created you. Every day with you was like winning the lotto over-and-over. I will miss every "spirited debate", every concerning look you always gave me, and the passion we maintained through our 35 years of marriage.

On June 15, 2026, at approximately 4:30 pm, Michele Gleason passed from this world after a year-long battle with pancreatic cancer. She defeated cancer twice in her life (Hodgkins & Breast Cancer), but despite her fierce courage, she could not fend off the effects of the harsh treatments with this one. She passed peacefully in the company of her brother Mark and my sister Lisa as I held her hand.

Michele graduated from DePaul University in Chicago in 1988 with a degree in Computer Science. She worked as a Computer Consultant up until she had her daughter Kathryn in 2001. She co-founded BarefootCentral.com with me in 1998, co-founded Fulfillplus.com with me in 2004 and facilitated our purchase of Eagle Wetsuits in 2006. She always loved Accounting & Customer Service. She became the CFO of all our companies. She was loved & trusted by all in the business world.

Michele & I spent our lives loving outdoor activities (barefoot waterskiing, hiking, snow skiing, golf, beaches, mountains & traveling). We both love exploring, finding all the great "hole in the wall" places. She just loved being in the middle of everything. She lit up every room. She was an amazing mom to Kathryn and the countless young skiers & pros we hosted every summer at our home. Cooking, being the one I counted on, a great mom, trusted friend, and housekeeper, fueled by a glass of wine, were her most inner passions. We were lucky to have her teach us some of her favorite recipes over the last 6 months. You can find her blog at www.Michelewith1L.com

I can only figure God was jealous of me and wanted you back for himself. I Love You Infinity + 2!! I know you're in heaven telling your mom and grandmother about Kathryn, all of our adventures and great people we met.

The family will receive friends at the mortuary from 6pm – 8pm Friday, June 26, 2026.

A Celebration of Michele's life will be held at eleven o'clock Saturday, June 27, 2026 from the Chapel of Whitlock Mortuary with Mrs. Laura Elrod officiating.
