Mr. Marvin Addison, age 98, of Toccoa, passed away Tuesday, February 24, 2026 at his home.
Born May 3, 1927 in Canton, NC, he was the son of the late Joel Thomas and Lou Anna Kay Addison.
Mr. Addison was one of nine children. He graduated from Stephens County High School. He retired from Coats & Clark with 45 years of service where he held various positions, including thread boxer, wax tender and finishing department mechanic. He was a faithful member of Liberty Hill Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon, building committee member, Brotherhood group member, and RA's (Young Men Royal Ambassador) mentor. He is a current member of Sunnyside Baptist Church. He loved farming, cutting and burning firewood, gardening and selling vegetables. Marvin loved his family, church gatherings, and attending the senior center with friends weekly.
Survivors include his wife of 77 years, Leria Catherine Kelley Addison; son, Steven (Steve) Addison (Vickie Bennett), of Watkinsville, GA; grandchildren, Ginger Addison Fulghum (Bud) of Martin, GA, and Lauren Addison of Watkinsville, GA; great-grandchild, Madison Fulghum of Martin, GA; and nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his son, Gary Wayne Addison; sisters, Opal Addison Wilson (Boyd), Ruveal Addison Moseley (Clarence), Alice Addison Moseley (Bruce), Sue Addison Steele (Ray), Geneva Addison Payne (Frank); and brothers, Paul Addison (Bonnie Faye Adams), Wintferd Addison (Mable Adams), and Floyd Addison (Beulah Shead).
The family will receive friends at the mortuary from 1pm – 2:45pm Saturday, February 28, 2026.
Funeral services will be held at three o'clock Saturday, February 28, 2026 from the Chapel of Whitlock Mortuary with the Rev. Roger Whiten officiating.
Burial will follow at Liberty Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.
The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers: Tony Bennett, Marion Cobb, Tyler Addison, Dale Collins, Ken Brady and Jerry DeFoor.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Sunnyside Baptist Church, 1154 Mize Road, Toccoa, GA 30577, or to Stephens County Senior Center, 55 Rose Lane Park Drive, Toccoa, GA 30577.
