Obituary

Dr. Lionel Meadows was born on October 28, 1968 in Macon, GA. He was the oldest of two children born to Martha Rainey and James W. Meadows. He was a beloved husband to his wife Kathryn Meadows of 24 years, and a wonderful father to his two children, Aspen and Liesl Meadows. He is survived by sister, Crystal M. (Eli) Tucker; mother-in-law, Phyllis Krueger; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, James W. Meadows; and his father-in-law, Arlo Krueger.

Dr. Meadows was passionate about medicine and was a dedicated doctor who worked hard to provide the best care for his patients. He graduated from Emory University in 1990 with a bachelor's degree in biology, and from the Medical College of Georgia in 1994 with a Doctor of Medicine degree. He completed a residency in Obstetrics at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga in 1998, and went on to complete a fellowship in plastics in 2008. Dr. Meadows was double board certified in the specialties of obstetrics and plastic surgery.

Dr. Meadows was a partner physician at a local hospital for ten years before becoming the medical director at Simply Skin. In 2009, Dr. Meadows opened Meadows Surgical Arts and served as the medical director and chief surgeon there until his death. He was an admired doctor and highly respected in his field. He was also active in the community, where he volunteered his time with local charities, schools, and organizations. He was a member of the Georgia-Cumberland Academy Seventh Day Adventist Church, Calhoun, GA.

Lionel was an avid family man.  He enjoyed playing guitar and saxophone, and frequently played with his children for church. He enjoyed golfing, flying, and planning the next family trip. He was a kind and gentle man who was always willing to lend a helping hand. He was a wonderful husband, father, son, brother, and uncle, and his loss is deeply felt by his family and community.

Dr. Lionel Meadows passed away on Monday May 8, 2023, leaving behind a legacy of service and love that will never be forgotten.
