Lila Crowe Couch, age 84, of Toccoa, wife of Leroy Couch, passed away Monday,
February 22, 2021 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center.
Lila was born May 19, 1936 in Gainesville, GA, the daughter of the late Ernest and Edna Duncan Crowe.
She was a graduate of Gainesville High School in 1954 and was employed by Oxford Industries for 27 years. Lila was a member of the Toccoa First United Methodist Church, the friendship supper club for 25 years, the Red Hat Club, Gainesville High School Alumni, Elks Club Auxiliary, and the American Legion Auxiliary Post 104. She was also a member of the Beta Sigma Phi Club and the PBX Club both with 36 years of perfect attendance, as well as many other clubs throughout the community. Lila was the PBX Operator of the year, 4 different years, and Stephens County Senior Woman of the Year in 2003.
Family members include her husband of over 67 years, Leroy Couch; son and daughter-in-law, Howell Leroy and Norma Couch of Covington, GA; daughter and son-in-law, Tonya Lila and Todd Chalfant of Loganville, GA; belated son, Timothy Lee Couch, daughter-in-law, Thiane Couch of Oakwood, GA; grandchildren and their spouses, Corina and Steven Genson, Georgia and Adam Fenwick, Jhie and John Schramm, Joseph and Crystal Couch, Leah Chalfant, Scott and Lisa Chalfant; and 7 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at the mortuary from 5pm – 7pm Friday, February 26, 2021.
Funeral services will be held at two o'clock Saturday, February 27, 2021 at the Toccoa First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jerrell Beatty and the Rev. Brent White officiating.
Entombment will follow at Stephens Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.
The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers, Todd Chalfant, Steven Genson, Adam Fenwick, Jim Townsend, Scott Phillips, and Ryan Miller.
Beta Sigma Phi Sorority and the PBX Club will serve as honorary pallbearers and will meet at the First Methodist Church at 1:30 pm Saturday.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
Due to the conditions concerning the health and well-being of our community, social distancing will be observed. Those attending the service are encouraged to wear a mask.
