Dr. Lane Patman Lester, age 84, of Mt. Airy, GA, passed away Thursday, December 29, 2022 at his home.

Born October 16, 1938 in Miami, FL, he was the son of the late Ralph Ingram and Myrtis Olivia Sharman Lester.

He was a member of Antioch Baptist Church and was a retired Biology Professor at Emmanuel College.

Family members include his wife, Gail Attaway Lester; son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth Lane and Diana Lester of VA; daughters and sons-in-law, Lee Ann and Jon Smith of VA and Jennifer and Jon Benson, Jr. of Mt. Airy, GA; grandchildren Brittney Floyd, Kathryn Morris, Jon Benson, III, Nickalous Benson, and Eric Benson; great-grandchildren, Bryson VanHook, Bryndon VanHook, Bronsyn VanHook, Jon Benson, IV, and Bennett Morris; sisters, Sara Martin and Sharman Hughes; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will host a memorial service at three o'clock Saturday, January 7, 2023 at Antioch Baptist Church, Mount Airy, GA, with the Rev. Chris Webb officiating.
