Obituary

Mr. Kerry Cleveland Wilkes, age 78, of Hartwell, GA, passed away Sunday, March 20, 2022 at Rainey Hospice House in Anderson, SC.

Born June 11, 1943 in Telfair County, GA, he was the son of the late George Leon and Cynthia Perry Wilkes.

He was of the Baptist Faith and was retired from the Georgia Environmental Protection Division.

Family members include his wife, Genelle Smith Wilkes; sons, Patrick Wilkes (Amy LaGuire), and Neal Wilkes (Julie) all of Atlanta; grandchildren, Grady Wilkes, Stevie Wilkes, Carter LaGuire, Nigel Wilkes, Fiona Wilkes, Liam Wilkes, and Hazel Wilkes; daughter-in-law, Tara Truitt; sisters, Mary Sue Jeffries and Beth Dixon (Emory); twin brother, Perry Wilkes (Virginia); brother Barry Wilkes (Jean); and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Leon L. Wilkes.

A Memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 23, 2022, at two o'clock from the Whitlock Mortuary Chapel.  Visitation will be prior to the service from 1:00 pm – 2:00 pm.
