Mrs. Carolyn Joyce Smith Bowden, age 81, of Toccoa, passed away Saturday, January 14, 2023 at Stephens County Hospital.

Born April 4, 1941 in Demorest, GA, she was the daughter of the late Clarence Watson and Pearl Allen Smith. She was retired from Coats and Clark and was of the Holiness Faith.

Family members include her daughter, Darlene Bowden (Joseph Wachira) of Toccoa; son, Richard Bowden of Toccoa; sisters, Geraldine Simpson of Toccoa, Judy Smith of Greenville, SC, Ann Smith of Toccoa, and Christle RaFool of Florida; eight grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Noah Keifer "Billy" Bowden; son, Dannie Delaine Bowden; daughter, Symantha Bowden; two sisters; and three brothers.

The family will receive friends at the mortuary from 6pm – 8pm Thursday, January 19, 2023.

Funeral services will be held at eleven o'clock Friday, January 20, 2023 from the Chapel of Whitlock Mortuary with Mr. Daniel Wilbanks and Darlene Bowden officiating.

Burial will follow at Zebulon Baptist Church Cemetery.

Grandsons and Great-grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
