Mr. Joel Dean Whitworth, age 87, of Carrollton, GA, formerly of Toccoa, passed away Friday, November 22, 2024 at his home.

Born August 30, 1937 in Stephens County, he was the son of the late Clarence and Effie Eller Whitworth.

Mr. Whitworth retired from Milliken, and was a bus monitor for Stephens County schools.  He was a Shriner and a member of Carnes Creek Baptist Church, and he loved GA Bulldog football.

Family members include his wife, Peggy Harrison Whitworth, of the home; children, LeDeana Waters, Keith Whitworth (Tammy), Kelly Dickinson (Doug) and Tonya Hearn; brothers, Joe Whitworth and Johnny Whitworth; 11 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and 4 great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Marvin Whitworth; sisters, Ellen Alexander and Ann Bennett; and great-grandson, Boston Perry.

The family will receive friends at the mortuary from 12:00pm – 1:45pm Monday, November 25, 2024.

Graveside services will be held at two o'clock Monday, November 25, 2024 at Roselane Cemetery with the Rev. Jerrell Beatty officiating and the Toccoa Masonic Lodge #309 providing Masonic Rites.

The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers:  Zack Whitworth, Wesley Dickinson, Tyler Dickinson, Priest Perry, Kristaps Dickinson and Matthew Harrison.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Gentiva Hospice/Douglasville, 6458 Spring Street #100, Douglasville, GA  30134.
