Mr. Joe Terrell Shelton, Sr., age 65, of Toccoa, passed away Saturday, January 9, 2021 at Stephens County Hospital.

Born March 17, 1955 in Toccoa, he was the son of the late Joseph Manston Shelton and Mary Jane Cleveland Shelton.  He was a member of Rock Creek Baptist Church and was retired from the City Of Toccoa Police Department.  Joe was a United States Army Veteran serving during the Vietnam War.

Family members include his children; Joe Shelton, Jr. of Toccoa, Kimberly and Kevin Caudle of Conyers, Amy and Michael McClure of Chipley, FL, and Joshua and Mandy Shelton of Toccoa; sisters and brothers-in-law, Mattie and Richard Smalko of NY and Renee and Troy Smith of IN; grandchildren, Caitlin Shelton, Skyler Caudle, Elizabeth Caudle, Michael McClure, Jr., Kaiden McClure, Kyle McClure, Luke McClure, Kallee Shelton, Landen Keller, Ashton Shelton, Kerstin Shelton;  two great-grandchildren; and numerous other children he considered his grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his grandson, Joshua Bryce Shelton; brothers and a sister-in-law, Douglas Shelton, Roger and Debbie Shelton, and Jack Shelton; sister, Rita Faye Shelton.

Funeral services will be held at eleven o'clock Thursday, January 14, 2021 at Rock Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. Harris Pressley and the Rev. Ken Jackson officiating.  Burial will follow at Rock Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.

The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers; Joshua Shelton, Skyler Caudle, Landen Keller, Ashton Shelton, and Jeffrey Mitchell.

Michael McClure, Jr., Kaiden McClure, Kyle McClure, and Luke McClure will serve as honorary pallbearers.

The family will receive friends at the mortuary from 2pm – 4pm and 6 pm – 8pm Wednesday, January 13, 2021.

Due to the conditions concerning the health and well-being of our community, social distancing will be observed.  Those attending the service and visitation are required to wear a mask.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Rock Creek Baptist Church, 3729 Rock Creek Road, Toccoa, GA 30577.
