Mr. Joe F. Caples, of Toccoa, GA, passed away after an extended illness on Saturday, May 17, 2025, at 88 years of age.

Mr. Caples, son of the late Fred Caples and Johney Lee Goins Caples, was born in Burke, Texas, on December 15, 1936.  He joined the U. S. Air Force in 1954, serving in both Japan and the Philippines, and was honorably discharged in 1958.  He had an impressive civilian career originating in Lufkin, Texas, where he owned and operated Caples Welding and Fabrication, and in Toccoa, Georgia, where he owned and operated Caples Industrial Supply.  He also worked for many years in supervisory capacities at Fieldale Corporation.  Upon his retirement, he enjoyed gardening and selling his produce at Lavonia Farmer's Market, and was also involved in the Farmer's Market management.

Mr. Caples was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Janice Leigh Hickman Caples; and siblings, Charles, Sandra, and Jimmy Dan Caples.

He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Suzanne Joyce Sanders Caples; daughter, Frances Elaine Caples Beach (Robert); and son, Freeman Andrew Caples (Kim); grandchildren, Joseph Freeman Caples, Susan Lynn Caples, Caroline Christopher Beach, George Richard Sanders Beach; and great-grandson, Curtis Max Caples.  He is also survived by his brother, Billy Mack Caples of Oklahoma.

The family will receive friends at the mortuary from Twelve Noon until 1:45 PM Tuesday, May 20, 2025.

Memorial services will be held at two o'clock  Tuesday, May 20, 2025 from the Chapel of Whitlock Mortuary with Military Honors provided by the U. S. Air Force Honor Guard.

Private inurnment will be in Confidence Methodist Church Cemetery.
