Mrs. Joann Holcomb Slocum, age 87, of Martin, GA, passed away Saturday, June 25, 2022 at The Oaks at Scenic View in Baldwin, GA.

Joann was born on October 25, 1934 and was the daughter of the late Charles Lee and Trudy Outz Holcomb.

She lived in the Gumlog area of Stephens County during her youth.  She married Berry W. Slocum, Jr. (predeceased 2003) and moved to the Norcross, GA area in the late 50's.

Joann is survived by a son, Greg Slocum (Lisa) of Candler, NC, and a daughter, Stacy Slocum of Martin, GA.  She is also survived by two grandchildren, Crystal A. Ricci (Stephen) of Maysville, GA, and Andrew C. Slocum of Asheville, NC; three great grandchildren, Nicholas W. Stout, Vincent N. Ricci and Jerry B. Stout; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Joann and Berry retired back to the Martin area in 1999.   She attended the Mullins Ford Baptist Church in Martin.

She enjoyed shopping for antiques, reading and researching the family's genealogy and was an avid Barbie doll collector.

The family will receive friends at the Mortuary from 10:00 a.m. until the service hour Thursday, June 30, 2022.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 o'clock Thursday, June 30, 2022, from the Chapel of Whitlock Mortuary.

A private burial will be held at Franklin Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Mullins Ford Baptist Church or a charity of choice.
