Toccoa
Mrs. Janice Renee Cobb Smith, age 61, of Toccoa, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 19, 2021 at Mountain View Health and Rehab Facility in Clayton, GA.
Born August 31, 1959 in Toccoa, she was the daughter of the late Roy Lee and Lavenia McCollum Cobb. She was married to her soul mate, James Albert Smith in May, 1984 and he preceded her in death in 2020.
Janice loved to read, sing and listen to gospel music. She was also an excellent cook and was often asked to bake her prize winning desserts, especially Ooey Gooey Bars. Janice was a
life- long resident of the Rock Creek Community of Stephens County. She grew up attending Rock Creek Baptist Church where she sang in the choir along-side her mom, sister, aunts, and cousins. Prior to her declining health, Janice attended Liberty Hill Church in Eastanollee. Janice was retired from Stephens County Housing Authority. She also worked at K-Mart and Lanier Clothing for a number of years. Janice is happy now. She has seen the face of Jesus and been reunited with her husband and parents.
Janice is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Josh and Beth Smith of Martin, GA; granddaughter, Tennasyn Bette Smith; sister, Barbara Jean Mitchell of Toccoa; and several cousins, and extended family members.
The family will have a graveside service at two o'clock Tuesday, February 23, 2021 at Rock Creek Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Cody Kelley officiating.
Burial will follow.
Due to the conditions concerning the health and well-being of our community, the family will not be receiving friends. Those attending the graveside service are encouraged to wear a mask.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Liberty Hill Church Improvement Fund, 2894 Liberty Hill Road, Eastanollee, GA 30538 in memory of Janice Renee Cobb Smith.
