Mr. James Lamar "Lumpy" Norris, age 69, of Toccoa, passed away Thursday, January 8, 2026 at Stephens County Hospital.
Born July 8, 1956 in Toccoa, he was the son of the late Sanford "Junior" and Mable Thacker Norris.
Mr. Norris worked for 40 years as a Paramedic, retiring from the Stephens County Emergency Medical Service (EMS); he was serving as the Assistant Director at the time of his retirement. He served on the Board of Directors at the North Georgia Credit Union for 29 years. He loved to travel and spend time with his friends and family, and he loved to laugh and make others laugh with him.
Family members include his wife, Juanita Norris; daughters, Jennie Norris-Ingram (Dustin) and Karli Norris Cobb (Cale); grandchildren, Conner Cobb, Gavin Steele, Sawyer Steele and Max Dalton; step-daughters, Cassandra Dalton (Serante Hester) and Sara Steele (David).
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Elaine Norris.
The family will receive friends at the mortuary from 4pm – 6pm Sunday, January 11, 2026 and from 10am – 11:45am Monday, January 12, 2026.
Funeral services will be held at twelve noon Monday, January 12, 2026 at Ebenezer Baptist Church with Dr. Jamie Smith and the Rev. Jerrell Beatty officiating.
Burial will follow at Stephens Memorial Gardens.
The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers: Michael Ayers, Wesley Ayers, Bryon Bennett, Brian Akin, Cale Cobb, David Steele, Serante Hester and Dustin Ingram. Honorary pallbearers are Tommy Ayers, Ray Willis, Chris Stephens, Aaron Wilkinson, Michael Carter, Billy Fleming, Angie Turk, April Littleton, Carl Oliver, Warren Masten, Michael Coleman, Bobby Westmoreland, Tony Thomas, Donna Kieffer, and previous and current employees of Stephens County EMS.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Hope Center of Toccoa, 158 S. Broad Street, Toccoa, GA 30577, or to Ebenezer Baptist Church Missions, 49 Rose Lane, Toccoa, GA 30577.
