Mr. James Richard Hardman, Jr., age 93, of Cleveland, GA, formerly of Toccoa, passed away Wednesday, June 25, 2025 at Laurel Lodge Assisted Living in Cleveland, GA.
Born June 19, 1932 in Toccoa, he was the son of the late James Richard Hardman, Sr. and Bertha Smith Hardman..
Mr. Hardman was a retired employee at Stovall Building Supplies. He was a member of St. Matthias Episcopal Church, and was a United States Army Veteran, having served in Korea. He enjoyed woodworking, drawing, painting and weaving. He deeply loved his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and his church.
Family members include his daughters, Jean Owens and Ann Thacker (Joe); grandchildren, Richard Howell (Jessica), Sally Simmons (Clint), Brandy Floyd (Daniel), Amanda Smith (Justin), Bridgett Henry (Jason), Jacob Moore (Tori), Nicholas Moore, Rebecca Galvis (Mauricio), Zachary Owens, (Kelly), Isaiah Thacker, Emmalea Thacker, Amy Avery (Jonathan), Isaac Owens (Logan) and James Cory; fourteen great-grandchildren; sons-in-law, Roger Thomas and Bobby Cory; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Fay Ethel Lipscomb Hardman; daughters, Rebecca Thomas and Mary Cory; and son-in-law, Robert Owens.
The family will receive friends at St. Matthias Episcopal Church from 10:00 am until the service hour Friday, June 27, 2025.
Funeral services will be held at St. Matthias Episcopal Church at eleven o'clock Friday, June 27, 2025 with the Rev. Gwin Hanahan officiating.
Burial will follow at Stephens Memorial Gardens.
The following grandsons will serve as pallbearers: Isaac Owens, Gavin Simmons, Clint Simmons, James Cory, Richard Howell and Chandler Howell.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Shriner's Hospital, https://donate.lovetherescue.org, or to the American Cancer Society, c/o Jerry Snell, 575 Rosedale Street, Toccoa, GA 30577.
