Howell Lindon Brown, age 83, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, September 6, 2025.  He was the son of the late James Henry and Agnes Cromer Brown.  He was born on March 8, 1942 in Stephens County, where he lived most of his life.

Mr. Brown was a retired supervisor from Coats & Clark.  He was a member of the Toccoa National Guard Unit for seven years, earning a medal for sharpshooting.  He helped with the building of Glad Tidings Assembly of God (Encounter Church), where he served on the Board for a number of years.  At the time of death, he was a member of The Pointe Church of God.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Rhonda Lynn Brown, brothers James, Jr., and Billy Joe Brown.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Jo Westmoreland Brown; a son and daughter-in-law, Donald and Laura Brown of Toccoa; three grandchildren, Sebastian, Kathryn and Robyn Brown; two sisters-in-law, Shelia Westmoreland of Toccoa, and Charlotte West of Charleston, S.C.; two brothers-in-law, Bob Westmoreland of Toccoa, and Ray Wells of Dallas, GA.; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends at the mortuary from 6pm – 8pm Thursday, September 11, 2025.

Funeral services will be held at three o'clock Friday, September 12, 2025 at The Pointe Church with Rev. Chad Smith officiating.

Burial will follow at Stephens Memorial Gardens.

The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers:  Bob Westmoreland, Kevin McCurry, Danny Thomason, Keith McCurry, Charles Poole and Joe Pendergrast.
