Rev. George William Tubbs, age 97, of Toccoa, passed away Tuesday, April 21, 2020 at the Picture of Life Personal Care Home.

He was born June 15, 1922 in Buffalo, NY, and son of the late William "Collins" and Frances Evelyn Sacher Tubbs.

Rev. Tubbs was a member of the Frist Alliance Church of Toccoa.  He was Missionary for 25 years and a Pastor for 30 years.

Family members include his son and daughter-in-law, David and Nancy Tubbs of Toccoa; daughter and son-in-law, Carolyn and Rev. Steve Van Valkenburg of VA; daughter-in-law, Edith "Edie" Lugo Tubbs of Toccoa; eight grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Martha Jenny Kowles Tubbs; his son, Rev. Paul Jonathan Tubbs; and by five sisters.

A private family graveside service will be held at Roselane Cemetery with Dr. David Reese officiating.

Burial will follow.

Due to the conditions concerning the health and well-being of our community, the family will not be receiving friends or having a public service at this time.

The family will have a celebration of Rev. Tubbs' life at a later date.
