Mr. Gary Michael Gauthreaux passed away on Friday, February 3, 2023 at the age of 63.
He leaves behind the love of his life, Jan DeFoor Gauthreaux; and family, Bob and Sue Gauthreaux, Lee and Olga Gauthreaux, and Bill and Rhonda Gauthreaux; nieces and nephews, Kathryn, Nicole, Joe, and Nicholas, Taylor and Amelia Gauthreaux.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Rufus and Violet Cassoon Gauthreaux.

Gary was born in Athens, GA on March 24, 1959. He graduated from Clarke Central High School in 1977. He then attended Athens Technical College and earned a degree in Computer programming. He worked at the University of Georgia for 30 years in the Computer Operations IT Department. He retired from the University in 2015 and enjoyed his retirement and keeping up with the latest in technology.

Gary and Jan were married in 1996 and lived in Lavonia, GA. Gary enjoyed computers, rock music and cars. We lost count of how many cars Gary owned or what he was last seen driving. His favorite, had to be his first car, a Silver Plymouth 440 GTX. In addition, Gary would do anything for his Mom. He was always helping her around the house, especially with her electronics and phone answering systems. He was also quick to help anyone with medical or technical issues through his diligent internet research.

Gary was a loving brother who was always interested in the welfare of his brothers and their families. He will be dearly missed.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, March 11, 2023 from 12 noon until 3pm at the Gauthreaux's Residence in Athens, Ga.  Family and Friends are welcome.
