Mrs. Emily Ruth Whiten Coker, age 94, of Cleveland, Ohio, formerly of Toccoa, passed away Friday, May 16, 2025.

Born July 12, 1930 in Lavonia, GA, she was the daughter of the late Preston A. and Lillian Busha Whiten.

She was a member of Hillstreet Baptist Church and was retired from the Stephens County School System.

Family members include her son, Michael Coker of Cleveland, OH; grandsons, Matthew Whitfield and Andrew Whitfield (Melissa); great-grandchildren, Caleb Whitfield, Eli Whitfield, and Zack Whitfield; and numerous nieces and nephews.  Emily was the last member of her immediate family of nine siblings.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel Peak "Dan" Coker; and by her daughter, Janice Coker Whitfield

The family will receive friends at the mortuary from 12 noon until 1:45pm Wednesday, June 4, 2025.

Funeral services will be held at two o'clock Wednesday, June 4, 2025 from the Chapel of Whitlock Mortuary with the Rev. Mike Petty officiating.

Burial will follow at Stephens Memorial Gardens.

The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers, Roger Slocum, Matthew Whitfield, Andrew Whitfield, Gerald Whiten, Billy Whiten, and Jack Kesler.
