Mr. Edward Lamar "Buddy" Whisnant, age 80, of Martin, GA, passed away Friday, October 18, 2024 at NEGA Medical Center in Gainesville, GA.

Born November 12, 1943 in Stephens County, he was the son of the late Lloyd Oliver and Jewell Ione Burrell Whisnant.

He was of the Baptist Faith and was the widower of Claudette Collins Whisnant.

Family members include his children, Vince Whisnant, Leigh Vaughan (Rodney), Tracey
Whisnant, and Stacey Herron (Kim); brother, Ervin Whisnant, sisters, Joan Dailey (Dennis), Melinda Payne, Deborah Everest, Hilda Pearson, and Pat Simmons; brother-in-law, Paul Bross. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Luckie Barton and Lynn Bross; and brothers, Joel Whisnant, Leonard Whisnant, and Danny Whisnant.  Family members also include his grandchildren, Kayla Fleming (Jared), Staff Sergeant Craig Vaughn (Kayla), Kelsey Wiedler (Steven), Courtney Chappelear (Randy), Cacey Leming (Kyle), Amanda Whisnant, and Frank Whisnant (Jessica); 17 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends at the mortuary from 2pm – 4pm and 6pm – 8pm Tuesday, October 22, 2024 and from 1pm until the service on Wednesday.

Funeral services will be held at two o'clock Wednesday, October 23, 2024 from the Chapel of Whitlock Mortuary.

Burial will follow at Zebulon Baptist Church Cemetery.
