Obituary

Mr. Cylar David Dickerson, age 62, of Martin, GA, passed away Wednesday, June 11, 2025 at his home.

Born April 1, 1963 in Anderson, SC, he was the son of Lamar Dickerson and the late Barbara Segars Dickerson.  Cylar was preceded in death by his wife, Debra Pless Dickerson.

Cylar was a hardworking man whose life was marked by dedication, service, and love for his family. He was a cherished husband, father, "Gramps," son, and brother.

Cylar proudly served his country in the United States Navy. Following his military service, he found a lifelong career at Delta Air Lines, where he worked for over 30 years. He often said he never had to work a day in his life because he truly loved his job and the people he worked with.

Cylar was a loyal Georgia Bulldogs football fan and you could find him in Athens every Saturday during football season. He also loved to travel, especially with his family.

He enjoyed working in his yard in Gumlog and sitting by his pool. You could often find him sitting in a lawn chair for hours just watching the cars drive by.

Cylar was a longtime member of Ebenezer Baptist Church. He loved his church family and devoted his life to Christ.

Family members include his father, Lamar Dickerson; sons and daughters-in-law, Kirby and Sierra Dickerson and Casey and Breanna Dickerson; daughters, Amy Addington Garrett and Brooke Addington Janzer; brothers and sisters-in-law, Tim and Jennifer Dickerson and Darren and Susan Dickerson; grandchildren, Maddox, Ryman, Addison, Cohen, Daisy, Jacob, Maggie, Kenlie, Addilynn, Mason; and a life long friend with Delta Air Lines, John Hornbuckle.

The family will receive friends at the mortuary from 1:00pm until the service on Monday, June 16, 2025.

A service to Celebrate Cylar's Life will be held at two o'clock Monday, June 16, 2025 from the Chapel of Whitlock Mortuary with
Dr. Jamie Smith officiating.

Military Honors will be provided by the United States Navy.

Cylar's wishes were to be cremated and his cremains scattered in his favorite places.

In Lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Ebenezer Baptist Church.
