Obituary

Mr. Clyde Ray Bond, 84, of Bond Drive, Elberton, husband of 62 years to the late Susie Elizabeth "Jo" Fountain Bond, passed away on Saturday, March 1, 2025, at Piedmont Athens Regional Hospital. Family was at his side as he passed away peacefully following a sudden illness.

Clyde was born in Elbert County on September 28, 1940, the youngest of five children of Holcomb Vernon Bond and Julia Mae McMillan Bond. Mr. Bond worked as a stone cutter in the granite industry for many years; however, his greatest love was farming. He grew hay, and enjoyed raising cows and chickens.

Above all, he loved his family dearly. He is survived by his sons: Ronald and Donna Bond and Allen and Ashley Bond. He was devoted "Granddaddy" to his grandchildren: Chana and Wes DeGrave, Sommer and Chris Morris, Samantha and Cody Lester, Joshua and Kira Bond, and Mallory and Scott Parr and a loving "PawPaw" to his great-grandchildren: Maverick, Legend, Savanna, Grayson, Lawson, Jameson, Ryan, Camryn, Luke, and Mason. Additionally, he leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Along with his wife and parents, he is preceded in death by his siblings: James Herman Bond, Sr., Mary Helen Borders, Lenora Anderson, and Robert Norman "Pete" Bond.

The family is at the residence and will receive friends on Wednesday, March 5, from 6:00-8:00p.m. at Berry Funeral Home.

Funeral services celebrating Clyde's life will be conducted on Thursday, March 6, at 2:00p.m. at Rock Branch Baptist Church with the Rev. Douglas Huff and Mr. Chris Morris officiating. Mr. Bond will be placed in the church at 1:00p.m. Interment will follow in the church cemetery beside his beloved wife, with the Rev. Kevin Vaughn officiating.

Flowers are accepted and contributions may be made in his memory to the Rock Branch Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 2150 Coldwater Road, Elberton, GA 30635.
