Obituary

Mrs. Betty Faye Sheriff Stowe, age 85, of Eastanollee, passed away peacefully Wednesday, July 10, 2024, at the home of Mark and Elaine Stowe Thomas.

Betty was a beacon of light, leaving behind a legacy of warmth and kindness.  She enjoyed making everyone feel special.  Betty walked through life with a gentle strength, touching the lives of everyone she encountered with an unforgettable grace.

Born April 18, 1939, she was the daughter of the late Willie and Lottie Pressley Sheriff.  Betty was a 1957 graduate of Stephens County High School and she was a member of Toms Creek Baptist Church where she filled various positions through the years.  After graduating, Betty worked at Radio Station WNEG as Program Director for twelve years.  She then joined a family business where she served as Office Manager and President of Sheriff Construction Company and retired from Sheriff Feed and Fertilizer Company.  She often expressed her professional career provided years of enjoyment and satisfaction while working along side many dear and special people.

Betty was married to her childhood sweetheart, Charles Walter Stowe for 64 years when he passed in April 2022.  She was also preceded in death by sisters, Lois Sheriff Finley, Eleanor Sheriff Fain, and Christine Sheriff Mullinix.

Family members include her daughters and their families, Elaine Stowe Thomas, her husband Mark Thomas and their sons, Max Thomas, his wife, Savannah, and their daughter, Roxy; Luke Thomas, his wife Tiffany, and their son Jax; Shirley Stowe Wyatt, her husband, James Wyatt, their daughter, Montana Wyatt; their son Matthew Wyatt, his wife Alex, and their daughter, Blakely; siblings, Leonard Sheriff, Nellie Herron, and Hazel Adams; and numerous nieces and nephews


The family will receive friends at the mortuary from 1:00pm until 1:30pm Saturday, July 13, 2024.

Graveside services will be held at two o'clock Saturday, July 13, 2024 at Tom's Creek Baptist Church Cemetery with Pastor Bill Stacey and Pastor J. T. Albe, on behalf of Pastor Wayne Marcus, offocoating.  All family and friends are welcome.  Burial will follow.

Betty was a gentle, loving soul who showed kindness to everyone.  A life so beautifully lived deserves to be beautifully remembered.  In lieu of flowers, please send a thoughtful card to someone or engage in a random act of kindness in memory of Betty Faye Sheriff Stowe.
