Mrs. Alice Guinn Callihan Postell, age 83, formerly of Blue Ridge, GA., passed away peacefully Tuesday, September 6, 2022 at the Oaks/Scenic View Nursing Facility in Baldwin, GA with her family by her side. She was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. John David (J.D.) Postell.
Born September 20, 1938, in Fannin County Georgia, she was the daughter of the late Luther G. and Ethel Stepp Callihan. She was a long-time member of Mt. Moriah Baptist Church. She was a homemaker who in previous years had worked at Van Raalte Hosiery Mill. She affectionately loved collecting things including a porcelain dolls collection of over 100 dolls. She also was known for her delicious chicken and dumplings and festive holiday green salad.
Family members include her daughter, Debbie and son-in-law Mike Petty of Lavonia, GA; granddaughters, Jennifer and Jason Barbour of Peterborough, England, Heather and Adam Pattillo of Hartwell GA, Bethany and Niels Cortez of Cornelia, GA; and grandson John and Jennifer Petty of Commerce, GA; great grandchildren, Caitlyn Barbour, Ian Barbour, Catherine Barbour, Caroline Barbour, Bryan Pattillo, Andrew Pattillo, Adelyn Pattillo, Salem Petty, Elon Petty, Leah Cortez, and Bentley Cortez. She is also survived by a brother, Clarence Callihan of Blue Ridge, GA, and sister, Tressie Mashburn also of Blue Ridge GA.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a great grandson Brenan Petty; sisters, Estalee Rose and Imogene Montgomery.
Funeral Services will be held at two o'clock Saturday, September 10, 2022, at Hipp's Chapel Church in Epworth, GA with the Rev. Delmar Davenport and Rev. Mike Petty officiating with burial in the church cemetery.
The family will receive family and friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers; John Petty, Adam Pattillo, Niels Cortes, Bryan Pattillo, Andrew Pattillo, and Hank Postell. Honorary pallbearers are Bentley Cortes and Elon Petty.
Flowers are optional. Family requests that donations in her memory be made to Hipp's Chapel Community Cemetery Fund, c/o Lisa Ingle, 7212 HWY #2, Epworth, GA 30541.
