Mrs. Mary Stewart Nolan, age 81, of Franklin, NC, formerly of Eastanollee, GA, passed away Thursday, August 6, 2026 at her home.

Born November 11, 1944 in Asheville, NC, she was a daughter of the late Sherman Monroe Stewart and Sarah Irene Aderholdt Chastain.

Mary was a member of Burningtown Baptist Church in Franklin, NC and was a former member of Toccoa First Methodist Church and St. Mary Catholic Church. She was retired from Stephens County School System as a Lunchroom Manager with 30 plus years of employment. Mary spent most of those years at SCMS. Her greatest joy was feeding kids.

Family members include a daughter, DeDee Nolan Steadham (Justin) of Franklin, NC; two grandsons, Clayton N. Dill and Austin C. Dill (Rose); great-grandchildren, Harper Dill and Carson Dill; her sister, Etta Roberts; brother-in-law, Kenneth Nolan (Rose); and several nieces and nephews.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Dennis Richard Nolan.  

The family will receive friends at the mortuary from 3pm – 5pm Monday, August 10, 2026.

Memorial Services will be held at five o’clock Monday, August 10, 2026 from the Chapel of Whitlock Mortuary with the Rev. Brandon Crone officiating.

Inurnment will be at Roselane Mausoleum.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Burningtown Baptist Church Food Pantry or to Stephens County Schools Nutrition Program.
