Obituary

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Bobby D. Moseley, 87, who would have turned 88 on November 12. Bobby went to be with his heavenly Father on October 1, surrounded by his loving family. Those closest to him lovingly called him “Pop.” Bobby was a quiet, dependable man who worked hard, cared for his family, and could always be counted on.

Bobby proudly served 30 years in the United States Air Force and retired as a Senior Master Sergeant (SMSgt) after 22 years of active duty and 8 years in the reserves. After his military service, he worked in auto body repair. He worked at Hewitt’s and later managed the body shop at Tabor Motor Company, where he became known as “Bondo Bob.” He was good at what he did and took pride in his work.

Bobby was usually quiet, but he loved to laugh and tell a good joke, usually one he had heard from somebody else. He enjoyed being part of a practical joke at work and had a good sense of humor that came out when you least expected it.

He was also a member of Tom’s Creek Baptist Church, where he served as an usher and was a member of the Adult Men’s Sunday School Class. He served his church quietly and faithfully.

Above all, Bobby loved the Lord and his family. He was a devoted husband to Jenny for 68 years. During Jenny’s long illness, Bobby stayed by her side and cared for her until the end. He spent many years caring for her and making sure she had what she needed. Their life together testified to the love and commitment they shared.

Bobby was a provider in every sense of the word. He showed his love in practical ways and was always looking after the people he cared about. He wanted to know whether the oil had been changed in the car and when it was time to service the vehicle. He enjoyed taking care of things around the family farm, particularly cutting the grass.

He enjoyed spending time with his great-granddaughters, Kendall and Lexi. He loved babysitting them and spending time with them, especially during the years when Jenny was still healthy enough to enjoy those times too. Those are memories his family will always treasure.

Bobby’s years maintaining B-52 aircraft also left him with significant hearing loss. In his later years, the family often had to talk a little louder to make sure he could hear them, and there was plenty of joking about just how loud they had to get. It became one of those little things that will always make his family smile when they think of him.

Bobby was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 68 years, Jenny, and his parents, Paul and Lottie Sue Moseley.

He is survived by his son, Steve Moseley (Laura); his daughter, Janice Mayes; his son, Donny Moseley; his grandson, Josh Mayes (Misty); and his great-granddaughters, Kendall and Lexi Mayes. His brother, Edward Moseley; and his sister, Barbra Dunson.

Bobby lived a quiet life, but it was a life that mattered. He worked hard, took care of the people he loved, served his country and his church, and remained devoted to his family. He may not have always said a lot, but the people who knew him knew they could depend on him. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by his family and all who knew him.

Visitation will be held at the mortuary Wednesday, October 7, 2026 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

A celebration of Bobby’s life will follow at one o’clock from the Chapel of Whitlock Mortuary with the Rev. Josh Mayes and the Rev. Wayne Marcus officiating.

Entombment will follow at Roselane Mausoleum.

Pallbearers are members of the Tom’s Creek Baptist Church Adult Men’s Sunday School Class.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you donate to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society (nationalmssociety.org) in honor of his great-granddaughter, Lexi.
